Residents in an area of Yemen's Amran Governorate staged a protest denouncing the Houthi militia for deliberately obstructing a public water project that serves approximately three thousand people amid a deepening water crisis threatening their livelihoods.

Local sources reported that inhabitants of the Dihyan village in the Kharif district held the demonstration on Sunday to protest the continuous lack of drinking water, which has persisted for nearly five consecutive months. This outage is directly attributed to the refusal of the Houthi leadership to authorize the repair of the village's primary water infrastructure.

Protesters carried signs demanding the immediate restoration of the water project and accountability for those responsible for its disruption. They emphasized that the water shortage has evolved into a direct threat to their daily existence, particularly given the absence of any viable alternative sources for potable water.

The community accused supervisors affiliated with the militia of appropriating the water project's revenues for over two years, leading to its complete failure. Furthermore, they criticized the local directorate, which remains under Houthi control, for failing to take any measures to rehabilitate or repair the essential facility, thereby exacerbating the suffering of the population.
