Presidential Decrees Appoint New Governors for Lahij, Abyan, and Al-Dhale Provinces

The Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council issued a series of republican decrees on Friday appointing new governors for three southern governorates, a move intended to reorganize local administration and enhance governmental performance in those regions.

According to the official announcements, Republican Decree No. (7) of 2026 was issued, appointing Murad Ali Mohammed Abdulhai Al-Halami as the Governor of Lahij Governorate.

Furthermore, Republican Decree No. (8) of 2026 was promulgated, stipulating in its first article the appointment of Dr. Mukhtar bin Al-Khidr Al-Rabbash Al-Haimi Al-Maisari as the Governor of Abyan Governorate.

In a related development, Republican Decree No. (9) of 2026 was announced, which includes the appointment of Brigadier General Ahmed Qaed Saleh Qasem Al-Qubba as the Governor of Al-Dhale Governorate, as well as Commander of the Al-Dhale Axis and Commander of the National Security Forces within the governorate, accompanied by his promotion to the rank of Major General.

The second article of the three decrees stipulated that they shall take effect from the date of their issuance and subsequent publication in the Official Gazette.
