Houthi militias have compelled government school administrations in Al-Mukha, west of Taiz Governorate, to collect financial amounts from students remaining in the city under the guise of "tuition fees." This measure, coinciding with the imposition of their sectarian curricula, exacerbates the burdens on families who have not departed the city.

Educational sources indicated that the militia mandated government school principals to collect 5,500 Yemeni Rials per student. This directive, alongside the requirement to teach their curricula with sectarian content, has raised concerns about the future of the educational process in the city.

The sources clarified that government schools have become nearly empty of students following the displacement of most families from the city after the militia's control on the tenth of last month. Other families have refrained from sending their children to schools due to the deteriorating security and living conditions and the imposed fees.

Since taking control of the city, Houthi forces have begun imposing financial levies on residents under various pretexts, according to media and human rights reports. This practice intensifies the suffering of the remaining families and increases pressure on their ability to provide basic needs and education for their children.
