Yemeni army forces and local resistance fighters have engaged in the most intense clashes in years with Houthi militia forces on the eastern and western fronts of Taiz city. Field sources reported that the confrontations, which began Wednesday evening, centered on strategic locations including Jabal Han, Al-Thalathin Street, the old airport, and the Al-Damina area, as well as the Al-Kuraifat front on the city's eastern side. This escalation marks a significant military intensification not witnessed in the region for an extended period. The combat zones saw extensive use of heavy and medium weaponry, accompanied by reciprocal artillery shelling between the warring factions, underscoring the heightened military tension. Concurrently with the fighting, the Houthi militia launched heavy artillery bombardments targeting densely populated residential neighborhoods in the old airport area, Al-Thalathin Street, and Bir Basha. These attacks have raised significant concerns for civilian safety in these areas, particularly during nighttime hours. |
