Houthi Missiles Strike Civilian Routes Between Taiz and Aden, Causing Casualties

The Houthi militia launched two missile attacks on Thursday evening, targeting civilian routes connecting the governorates of Taiz and Aden, resulting in civilian deaths and injuries.

The latest escalation involves attacks on roads utilized by civilians and displacement movements in southwestern Yemen. According to field sources, one missile struck the vital Heja Al-Abd road, a primary artery for travelers and goods between Taiz and Aden. Civilians present at the scene assisted in transporting victims to local hospitals.

This incident followed an earlier missile attack, reportedly carried out by the Houthi militia, against a civilian convoy transporting displaced persons from recently intensified conflict zones in Hais, Al-Khawkha, and Al-Mokha. The convoy was en route to the temporary capital, Aden.

Sources indicated that this attack resulted in the complete destruction of approximately 15 vehicles and caused fatalities and injuries, including women and children. Ambulances transported the injured, some in critical condition, to hospitals in Aden for treatment.

These attacks are raising growing concerns about the safety of civilians on major roadways, particularly amid ongoing displacement from areas experiencing conflict or military tension. The strikes occurred as military escalations intensify on the Taiz and West Coast fronts. The Yemeni government accuses the Iran-backed Houthi militia of deliberately targeting civilians, infrastructure, and vital routes.
