New Displacement Wave Hits Yemen's Coastal Cities Amid Houthi Advance

A new wave of displacement has forced residents from the cities of Mokha in Taiz Governorate, and Khoukha and Hais in Hodeidah Governorate, to flee towards the temporary capital of Aden, following the entry of Houthi militia elements into Mokha city. The exodus is driven by escalating fears of deteriorating security conditions and expanding conflict.

Local sources reported that a significant number of families abruptly departed their homes, heading for Aden in search of safer areas amidst the rapidly evolving field developments in the region.

These sources indicated that the sudden surge in displacement has exacerbated the suffering of displaced families, who face considerable challenges in securing shelter and essential necessities. Concurrently, the areas receiving the displaced are struggling with limited resources and capabilities to accommodate the additional influx of families.

These developments occur against a backdrop of heightened anxiety among residents in areas near the front lines, as Houthi militia military movements persist. Concerns are mounting regarding the potential repercussions on civilians and the subsequent movement of displaced persons towards more secure territories.
