Dara'a Al Watan (Nation's Shield) forces apprehended a truck laden with weapons and ammunition on Tuesday during a security inspection at one of their checkpoints in the Shahan district of Al Mahrah Governorate. In a statement released by its media office in the governorate, Dara'a Al Watan forces reported that the unit operating in Shahan, led by Captain Nasser Za'abnaut, intercepted the truck during a security search. The seized items included 142 mortar shells, 10 mortar shell fuses, 13 Kalashnikov rifles, and 14 shotgun shells. The operation is part of the forces' ongoing efforts to enhance security oversight at entry points and along routes, combat arms and ammunition smuggling, and prevent their acquisition by outlawed entities and militias. The truck driver and the confiscated materials have been transferred to the relevant authorities to complete legal procedures. Brigadier Abdullah bin Sadef Al Mahri, commander of Dara'a Al Watan forces in Al Mahrah Governorate, commended the operation and the efforts of the security force in Shahan. He emphasized the critical importance of intensifying surveillance on smuggling activities across borders and routes to bolster security and stability within the governorate. |
