Merchants in the Al-Burt Al-Anan and Al-Marashi markets in Al-Jawf governorate, which are under Houthi militia control, launched a comprehensive strike on Saturday to protest the killing of citizen Abdullah Al-Barzi by a Houthi militiaman. Local sources stated that the strike was prompted by an incident where a Houthi element identified as Abdul Salam Ja'dar shot Al-Barzi, resulting in his immediate death. This act was described as occurring without apparent justification or direct cause. The protesting merchants and residents announced the continued closure of both markets and the suspension of commercial activity until the demands of the victim's family are met. Foremost among these demands is the handover of the accused to the relevant authorities for trial and the imposition of legal penalties. Protesters affirmed their commitment to the strike and continued demonstrations until justice is achieved. They urged the Houthi militia to promptly respond to their demands and ensure justice for the victim's family. |
