Tribes from the Dhmar region and beyond have mobilized in a significant display of unity and resistance, responding to a call to defend honor and dignity in the face of perceived Houthi transgressions. The mobilization, termed "Naked Al-Karama" (Defense of Honor), underscores a deep-seated tribal commitment to protecting what is considered sacred, including family, reputation, and community.

The historical significance of the name "Dhmar" is rooted in the ancient Himyarite King "Dhmar Ali Yahbar," renowned for his unifying rule over southern Arabia. The city of Dhmar itself carries a legacy of fierce tribes known for their valor and staunch refusal to tolerate injustice. The term "Dhimar" in Arabic lexicon refers to all that a person is obligated to protect—family, honor, property, homeland, and neighbors. A "Hami Al-Dhimar" is therefore a courageous individual who safeguards his kin and neighbors and never abandons those who seek his aid.

The current "Naked Al-Karama" movement, triggered by an incident involving Sheikh Hamad bin Rashid bin Fadgham Al-Hazmi, has seen tribes such as Al-Hada, Atmah, Anis, and Wasab converge. Historically recognized as among the most formidable and tradition-bound Yemeni tribes, they arrived on Sunday, July 5th, issuing defiant pronouncements and signaling their readiness for military action should diplomatic avenues fail. They emphasized that the matter is one of honor and dignity, not subject to negotiation.

Delegations from Dhmar joined representatives from Bakil, Marib, Hadramaut, Al-Bayda, Al-Dhale, Shabwah, Mahrah, Al-Mahwit, Abyan, and other regions. This widespread tribal convergence presented a rare spectacle, reflecting a shared sentiment of Yemeni tribal solidarity. Following the declared failure of mediation efforts due to what is described as Houthi intransigence and the tribes' insistence on full justice for women, the situation has entered a tense phase. The assembled tribes universally condemned the Houthi militia's actions regarding the case of Sheikh Al-Hazmi as a grave offense and a flagrant violation of "Al-Dhimar"—honor, reputation, covenant, and neighborly rights, deeming them red lines that cannot be compromised.

This movement is not confined to the Dhmar tribes alone; it represents a broader Yemeni tribal principle, particularly when fundamental values are at stake. The article specifically commends the tribes of "Daham," their sheikhs, and their men, whose historical actions are being lauded. The massive tribal gatherings at "Mitarah Al-Karama" have visibly shattered the climate of fear cultivated by the Houthi militia over the years, transforming the situation into a genuine uprising against practices aimed at dismantling the social fabric and eroding tribal identity. This echoes historical tactics, such as those attributed to the soothsayer Ahmed bin Suleiman, who allegedly advocated for subjugating tribes by inciting conflict.

The Houthi attempts to fracture tribal unity through the establishment of counter-gatherings and the formation of sham mediation committees have thus far proven unsuccessful. However, it is imperative for these tribes and the legitimate government they support to recognize that any failure in this critical juncture would signify submission to a legacy of shame. Such a defeat would legitimize the violation of honor and undermine the ancestral customs and covenants upon which Yemeni society is built. The unprecedented tribal mobilization presents two potential paths forward: either the Houthis will respond by releasing the woman "Mira," rectifying injustices, and providing tribal reparations to appease Sheikh bin Fadgham and the Daham tribes—a path that offers them a lifeline, albeit an implicit admission of their "dynastic project" faltering against tribal unity. Alternatively, and more likely, this could escalate into a full-blown conflict, severing Houthi supply lines. In this scenario, the legitimate government must seize this strategic opportunity presented by "Mitarah Al-Karama" to reclaim dignity, restore the Yemeni state, and engage in a decisive battle for honor and integrity, ultimately reinforcing the historical role of tribal unity as the primary defense of the land's Arab identity and human dignity.
