US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced Friday that it conducted military strikes against Iranian sites used for storing missiles and drones, as well as coastal radar facilities. The action was a direct response to an attack on a commercial vessel transiting the Strait of Hormuz.

According to a statement released by CENTCOM, the strikes were initiated following an incident on June 25th where the commercial ship M/V Ever Lovely, flying the Singaporean flag, was targeted by an Iranian drone as it departed the Strait of Hormuz near the Omani coast.

CENTCOM emphasized that the attack on the commercial vessel constituted a violation of the ceasefire, jeopardized freedom of navigation, and undermined the security of one of the world's most critical maritime passages, vital for global energy and international trade.

The command affirmed that its forces remain committed to collaborating with partners to secure commercial shipping and ensure the continued safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz. US forces will maintain close monitoring of the situation to uphold existing agreements and prevent any new threats to international navigation.
