Women's groups and activists in Aden have called for a protest on June 4th to demonstrate against the worsening electricity crisis, particularly as summer temperatures rise.

As temperatures increase, the electricity crisis has intensified, with power outages now lasting eight hours for every two hours of operation. This recurring situation has fueled public discontent and led to street demonstrations.

A formal announcement, circulated by female activists on social media, specifies Thursday, June 4, 2026, as the date for the protest. The gathering is scheduled to commence at 4:00 PM at Al-Arud Square in the Khormaksar district.

These calls represent a significant escalation, led by women in Aden, to voice their daily suffering caused by prolonged power outages. Women's organizations have adopted firm slogans, asserting that "electricity is a basic right" and "there is no life without electricity," chanting "Our voices are strong, our demands are just, and we will not back down!"

This anticipated organized women's movement aims to pressure the Electricity Corporation, the government, the Presidential Leadership Council, and the coalition to find radical and urgent solutions to end the residents' suffering. Their campaign literature emphasizes that access to sustainable basic services is a guaranteed right for citizens, not a favor or a handout.
