Yemen Airways announced on Tuesday that its aircraft are being forced to make technical refueling stops in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, or Djibouti due to logistical challenges stemming from a scarcity of aviation fuel within Yemen.

The official spokesperson for the airline, Hatem Al-Shaabi, explained that this measure is a temporary operational solution designed to ensure the continuity of flights and adherence to scheduled timings. He emphasized that aviation and passenger safety remain paramount priorities that cannot be compromised under the current circumstances.

Al-Shaabi further indicated that the company's technical and operational teams are diligently managing these challenges with maximum efficiency to minimize any adverse effects on passengers. He clarified that these technical stops do not compromise internationally recognized aviation safety standards.

Yemen Airways has urged passengers to adhere to the specified weight and size limits for baggage as indicated on their tickets to avoid any excess loads that could impact the safe operational requirements of the aircraft. The airline cautioned that in certain instances, it may be compelled to postpone the transport of some baggage to subsequent flights to maintain safety.

These measures are being implemented amidst exceptional operational conditions confronting the Yemeni aviation sector, resulting from the complex economic and logistical circumstances the country is experiencing, and the associated difficulties in securing aviation fuel on a regular basis.
