A young man was fatally shot by an armed assailant in the early hours of Tuesday in the Wusab Al-Ali district of Dhamar Governorate, in a new incident that has shocked the local community. Local sources reported that an individual identified as Ahmed Abdulmalik Al-Jahri shot and killed Khalil Abdullah Hussein Al-Mar'i in the Al-Mar'i village, within the lower Western sub-district of Wusab Al-Ali. The sources further detailed that the perpetrator arrived at the victim's residence around 1:00 AM and began loudly summoning the victim's brother, threatening to kill him if he did not emerge. The victim reportedly awoke to the threats and went out to investigate the commotion. At this point, the assailant produced a personal pistol and fired multiple shots at the victim, resulting in his immediate death. Sources confirmed that the assailant then fired shots towards neighbors who attempted to intervene and apprehend him, enabling his escape from the scene without being captured. The motives for the crime are reportedly linked to a prior dispute between the assailant and the victim's brother concerning a gas cylinder, which escalated into homicide. This incident occurs amidst a backdrop of deteriorating security and an increase in killings and armed conflicts in areas controlled by the Houthi militia, prompting public calls for an end to the security chaos and for the protection of civilian lives. |
