Security forces in Hadramout Governorate have successfully dismantled five clandestine facilities engaged in the illegal extraction and illicit export of gold, marking a significant crackdown on unregulated mining activities within the region.

Sources within the security apparatus revealed that the operation followed extensive intelligence gathering and on-site surveillance targeting locations suspected of illicit mineral resource extraction. The campaigns were conducted in collaboration with specialists from the General Authority for Geological Survey.

During the raids, security teams discovered specialized equipment and machinery used for crushing, processing, and extracting gold from ore within the seized facilities. Substantial quantities of gold-bearing rocks were also recovered, underscoring the scale of operations conducted outside state oversight and regulatory frameworks.

The sources emphasized the necessity of continuing these enforcement actions against individuals involved in illegal mining and smuggling to protect national resources and ensure compliance with mining regulations.

This development follows directives issued by the local authority in Hadramout earlier in May, mandating urgent measures to regulate mining activities in the Brom Mefaa district. These directives include securing mineral resource sites and launching field campaigns to curb illegal operations, thereby fostering stability and safeguarding the investment environment in the mining sector.
