One person was killed and another injured in an armed attack targeting a civilian vehicle in Al Bayda Governorate, central Yemen, amid a disturbing escalation of tribal retaliation incidents in the region. A local source reported that an armed ambush targeted a car on the main road connecting "Al-Saeelah" and the "Abs" area in the Al-Shariyah district of Rad'a, as it was returning from Al-Malaajim district. The source clarified that the attack resulted in the death of citizen Mohammed Nasser Al-Sayyad and the injury of another individual. A third passenger, identified as Sadiq Al-Mansouri, a tribal activist, survived the incident. According to sources, initial indications suggest the ambush may stem from a previous retaliatory dispute between the "Al Sayyad" and "Al Tarboos" tribes. This incident occurs within a context of severe security breakdown in Al Bayda Governorate. Human rights and tribal sources have accused the Houthi militia of deliberately fueling tribal conflicts and reviving old feuds between tribes. This policy is reportedly aimed at weakening the social and tribal fabric and engaging tribes in internal conflicts to facilitate their control and subjugation, with the alleged complicity and deliberate disregard of the militia's security apparatus in resolving disputes or apprehending perpetrators. |
