The Houthi militia has deployed significant military reinforcements from Sana'a and its outskirts towards Al Jawf governorate, signaling an intent to escalate the conflict following two days of intense tensions with local tribes. Military sources reported that the reinforcements originated from the Al Khamis area, located before the Arhab district. These forces include units from the Rapid Response forces and fighters mobilized from various districts of Sana'a. The convoy comprises military vehicles, including pickup trucks and armored vehicles, suggesting the militia's readiness for confrontation with Al Jawf tribes. Sources confirmed that the militia is actively working through its supervisors within Al Jawf tribes to dissuade them from joining the tribal mobilization. They are reportedly reminding them of past disputes with the Dhu Hussein tribes, aiming to fracture the tribal unity in Al Jawf. These military movements by the Houthis are a response to a large tribal gathering in "Matareh Al Yatmh." The sons of the Dhu Hussein and Dahm tribes had declared a general mobilization in protest against the militia's abduction of Sheikh Hamad bin Rashid bin Fadgham Al Hazmi from his home in the Khab wa Al Sha'af district. Tribes converging at the gathering signed a "Blood Preservation" document to unite their ranks, demanding the immediate release of Sheikh Al Hazmi. The Sheikh was targeted by the militia due to his growing social influence and a previous defection from their ranks. This escalation is seen as an extension of the Houthi militia's policy of "bone-breaking" against tribal leaders in Al Jawf. While the militia attempts to legitimize Al Hazmi's abduction with accusations of "incitement and obstruction," observers believe the dispatch of reinforcements from Sana'a aims to intimidate the tribes, forcibly disperse their gatherings, and solidify sectarian influence that is facing fierce societal resistance in the governorate. |
