Heightened military and tribal tensions are escalating in Al Jawf province for the second consecutive day following the Houthi militia's abduction of prominent tribal elder, Sheikh Hamad bin Rashid bin Fadgham Al Hazmi, from the Al Yatmh area in the Khab wa Al Sha'af district. Tribal circles have condemned this act as a "dangerous transgression" of customary norms and traditions.

A tribal source reported that hundreds of vehicles, heavily armed with fighters from the "Dhu Hussein" and "Daham" tribes, along with other tribes of Al Jawf, have converged on the Al Yatmh area in response to a tribal call to arms. A fortified tribal gathering point has been established to demand the immediate release of the abducted elder.

In an effort to consolidate their internal front, senior tribal leaders have signed a "Blood Covenant" document, establishing a general truce among the participating tribes in the gathering. This agreement aims to unify their ranks in support of the oppressed and to confront any external aggression.

The source affirmed that the abduction, led by Houthi commander "Abu Najib Al Sharifi," who falsely claims the title of Al Jawf's security director, was not a random act. It was reportedly a response to Sheikh Al Hazmi's growing social influence in resolving tribal disputes independently of the militia's apparatus. This was particularly noted after his dissociation from the militia and his preference for maintaining neutrality within his tribal community, which the militia perceived as a direct threat to its dynastic influence and an attempt to undermine its control over tribal decision-making in the province.

Militarily, the Houthi militia has deployed a large contingent from the city of Al Hazm, positioning them near the tribal gathering point in a clear show of force intended to disperse the assembly. In response, the tribes have reiterated their commitment to escalating their actions and have declared their readiness for all eventualities unless Al Hazmi is released and his honor restored in the coming hours.

In an apparent attempt to preempt public outrage, the security media affiliated with the militia's Ministry of Interior disseminated a narrative alleging Al Hazmi's involvement in "acts of banditry and incitement to sedition," and connections to "foreign agendas." These justifications are commonly employed by the militia to legitimize the elimination of its political and social adversaries. The Houthi-controlled "Al Jawf Security Department" has also issued threats against anyone supporting the tribal gathering, indicating the militia's intent to militarize the conflict and pursue a comprehensive confrontation with the province's tribes.
