An armed group launched a direct assault on the office of Al Dhale Governor, Major General Ahmed Al Qubba, within the local authority headquarters this morning, in a failed assassination attempt, according to a security source.

The source stated that the assailants, traveling in armored vehicles and military trucks, stormed the governorate building east of Al Dhale city before opening fire. No injuries were reported among the governor or his staff.

The security source identified the leader of the armed group as an officer named Raafat, affiliated with the Southern Transitional Council (a dissolved entity) and serving as the deputy director of security for Al Dhale district. The incident is reportedly linked to internal tensions and disputes among security and armed leadership within the governorate.

Following the attack, significant security tensions ensued both inside and around the governor's headquarters. The governor's guards and the armed group were reportedly on high alert, raising serious concerns about potential armed clashes that could further destabilize the already fragile security situation in the region.

Official statements from local authorities or security agencies detailing the circumstances of the incident or the measures being taken against those involved have not yet been released. Calls for an immediate investigation and accountability for the perpetrators are intensifying.
