Local Authority Condemns Armed Attack on Governorate Building in Al Dhale

The local authority in Al Dhale Governorate has condemned an armed assault targeting the governorate building in Al Dhale city, which resulted in injuries to the Director-General of the Culture Office, Ali Mohsen Sinan.

In an official statement released on Sunday evening via its Facebook page, the local authority stated that an armed group, led by an individual identified as Raafat Ali Khalid, carried out the attack. The group reportedly mobilized armed elements and positioned them around the building and on adjacent elevated areas, escalating security tensions in a densely populated district.

The statement characterized the assault as a "sinful and treacherous act" that represents a serious transgression. It further described the incident as a new approach aimed at obstructing the local authority's efforts to improve service delivery and development conditions within the governorate, combat corruption, and halt illegal taxation.

The local authority emphasized that directives from the Governor of Al Dhale mandated restraint and the avoidance of engagement, prioritizing the preservation of life and civilian protection, despite the capacity to manage the situation militarily. This approach, it noted, "exposed the parties seeking to drag the governorate into chaos."

The statement stressed that authorities will implement all necessary measures to safeguard state institutions and ensure the security and stability of citizens. It vowed to pursue all individuals involved in the attack and bring them to justice. The authority concluded by declaring that "the era of chaos and thuggery has ended," affirming its commitment to enforcing order and law, and preventing any attempts to destabilize the governorate.
