Counter-terrorism Officer Assassinated in Taiz by Unknown Gunmen

Counter-terrorism officer Amr Al-Shumairi was assassinated on Sunday, April 19, 2026, in the city of Taiz by unknown assailants riding a motorcycle in the Republican district, east of the city.

Local and security sources reported that the perpetrators ambushed Al-Shumairi, who was an officer in the Counter-Terrorism Unit of the Criminal Investigation Department, and fired multiple shots at him. He died immediately at the scene before the assailants fled to an undisclosed location.
