Houthi militias have abducted an educator in the Khamr district of Amran Governorate, transferring him to a central prison, in a continued pattern of violations against educational and civilian personnel. Local sources and eyewitnesses reported that the Houthi leader appointed as the director of security for Khamr district, Mansour Al-Hamzi, summoned educator Ali Yahya Atef. Upon his arrival at the security department headquarters, Atef was moved to the central prison without any charges being filed. Sources clarified that Atef has been working in the education sector for over twenty years at the Education Office, in addition to serving as a legal custodian. They noted that his abduction occurred without any legal justification. It was also highlighted that this incident is not isolated, as Atef has been summoned, detained, and held multiple times under similar circumstances previously. Local sources accuse Houthi leader Al-Hamzi of widespread violations against the residents of Khamr district, amidst escalating abuses across various districts of Amran Governorate. Human rights advocates are calling for an end to these practices and the immediate release of all detainees. |
