A widespread social media campaign is urging the immediate release of two educators who have been held and disappeared in Houthi militia prisons for over eight months, with their families denied contact.

Activists from the Al-Nadera and Damt districts in the Ibb and Al-Dhale provinces stated that the Houthi militia has continued to detain educators Abdulrahman Taher Al-Bisara and Jamal Mohammed Saleh Aziz since August 2025. They have not been formally charged or brought before the judiciary, constituting a grave violation of rights and freedoms.

Sources close to educator Al-Bisara reported that the militia abducted him from his village in Wadi Sahour, Damt district, and held him in a local detention center for a month before transferring him to a militia prison in Sana'a.

Close associates of the educators indicated that their abduction stemmed from their refusal to teach sectarian materials, known as Hussein Al-Houthi's doctrines, and their opposition to the group's ideological and repressive practices. The militia continues to detain them without formal charges or allowing them legal representation.

The activists demanded the immediate release of the two educators and all individuals held for months without legal justification. Campaign participants emphasized that targeting educational staff negatively impacts the educational process, stressing that teachers are fundamental pillars in building generations and that their protection and professional dignity are state responsibilities.

They called upon relevant authorities and local and international human rights organizations to take urgent action to pressure for the release of the detainees, halt violations against educators, and ensure a safe environment that allows them to fulfill their mission without threat or persecution. Areas under the control of the Iran-backed Houthi militia have witnessed repeated abduction campaigns targeting educators and activists, amidst escalating calls to end these practices and ensure respect for citizens' fundamental rights.
