Security Campaign Dismantles Illegal Checkpoints in Abyan's Ayran Region

Security forces in Abyan Governorate have successfully conducted a campaign to dismantle illegal checkpoints imposing unauthorized levies on public roads, particularly in the Ayran area of the Al-Mahfad district. The operation, guided by direct directives from Abyan Security Director, Brigadier General Ali Nasser Bouzeid, and following an operational order, targeted the reduction of illegal taxation practices.

The security campaign involved the participation of local security forces and national security forces from Al-Mahfad district, supported by units from the First Support and Logistics Brigade. The forces were dispatched to the Ayran region based on intelligence indicating the presence of a checkpoint engaged in extorting illegal fees from trucks operating on the international highway.

During the operation, the security team apprehended three individuals and confiscated documents related to illegal revenue collection. The forces reportedly encountered an armed ambush upon their return, resulting in injuries to one soldier.

Security authorities have confirmed that the arrested individuals will be transferred to the central prison pending referral to the Public Prosecution. Additionally, authorities are circulating the names of those involved in the armed ambush to all security agencies for further legal proceedings and pursuit, regardless of their location.

The security apparatus emphasized its ongoing commitment to pursuing all individuals exploiting public routes to impose illegal tolls on citizens, stressing a zero-tolerance policy towards such practices and vowing to address them accordingly.
