The International Organization for Migration (IOM) reported a decrease in the number of migrants arriving in Yemen from the Horn of Africa during March, marking the lowest monthly total since the beginning of the year.

According to the IOM's Migrant Arrivals Monitoring report, 17,027 migrants entered Yemen in March. This figure represents a 12 percent reduction compared to February, which recorded 19,337 arrivals.

Djibouti remained the primary point of departure for migrants, accounting for approximately 74 percent of the total arrivals. Somalia followed with 22 percent, while 4 percent originated from Oman. The majority of arrivals from Djibouti disembarked on Yemen's southern coast, with 72 percent landing in Abyan governorate and 28 percent in Taiz governorate. Migrants from Somalia primarily arrived in Shabwah governorate. Additionally, Omani authorities returned 595 migrants to the Shahan district in Al Mahrah governorate.

Ethiopian migrants constituted the overwhelming majority of arrivals, with 16,370 individuals, or 86 percent of the total. Somali migrants represented 3 percent, with the remaining percentage comprising other nationalities. Demographically, men accounted for the largest proportion at 68 percent, while women and children each made up 16 percent of the arrivals.

In a related development, the IOM noted that 1,407 Ethiopian migrants departed Yemen for Djibouti during the same period, indicating ongoing movement along this route.
