Teacher Dies of Stroke Amidst Financial Hardship and Houthi Policies in Hodeidah

A teacher in Hodeidah Governorate has died from a sudden stroke, a recurring incident attributed to mounting debts and the stringent policies imposed by Houthi authorities, according to an educational source.

The deceased, Essam Abdelqader Hajr, who taught biology, succumbed to a brain stroke exacerbated by accumulated debts and severe financial distress. The source indicated that Hajr's work involved commuting between rural and urban areas, intensifying his daily life pressures.

In recent months, Hodeidah has witnessed a number of sudden deaths among educators, primarily from strokes and heart attacks. These fatalities have become more frequent following a controversial classification decision issued by the Houthi administration.

This Houthi decree categorizes teachers into various groups, including a "surplus" category. Teachers assigned to this classification are reportedly deprived of half their salary every six months, contributing significantly to their financial instability and stress.
