The Yemeni Journalists Syndicate has strongly condemned what it described as campaigns of incitement and threats targeting Sabaa Satellite Television channel and several of its employees, warning that such calls pose a serious danger to press freedom and the safety of journalists within the country. In a statement issued on Thursday, the Syndicate confirmed it received a notification from the management of the channel, which is affiliated with the General Corporation for Radio and Television under the internationally recognized Yemeni government, reporting exposure to incitement and threat campaigns linked to some of its programming content. The Syndicate asserted that disagreements concerning media content must be addressed through professional criticism and responsible dialogue, not via hate speech or appeals that could place journalists and media institutions in jeopardy. The organization demanded that all parties respect relevant laws and professional standards, ensuring journalists the right to perform their duties without intimidation or pressure. Furthermore, the Syndicate called upon security authorities in Ma'rib Governorate and the internationally recognized government to launch an immediate investigation into the incident, take necessary measures to protect journalists and media workers, and safeguard a media environment founded on pluralism and freedom of expression. |
