The family of a pharmacist from Ibb governorate, who owns a medical clinic in Taiz city, has revealed that their son has been held captive by Houthi militias for more than three months. According to a statement circulated by activists focused on detainee cases in Ibb, the Houthi militia abducted Dr. Adel Mohammed Qasim Al-Ba'dani three months ago in the Al-Houban area, east of Taiz, while he was traveling to his workplace in the city where his clinic is located. The family further specified that the abduction occurred at one of the militia checkpoints as their son was returning from a brief visit to his family in the village of Bait Al-Ba'dani, located in the Rayman sub-district of Ibb rural district. The family indicated that they maintained silence throughout the previous period, believing that discretion might facilitate his release. However, all mediation efforts have failed due to the militia's intransigence, as they continue to refuse to disclose the reasons for the abduction or secure his release to date. Human rights reports indicate that Houthi militias are currently holding hundreds of individuals from Ibb governorate across various sectors. The governorate experienced extensive abduction campaigns in the middle of last year that spanned several months, targeting dozens of educators, academics, government employees, and activists. |
