The International Organization for Migration (IOM) reported a relative decrease in internal displacement across Yemen last week compared to the previous reporting period.

In its Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) update released Monday, the agency documented 52 families comprising 312 individuals who were displaced at least once between 1 and 7 February 2026.

This figure represents a 19 percent drop from the week before, when 64 families (384 individuals) were recorded as newly displaced.

According to the DTM, new displacement cases were concentrated in four governorates under the authority of the internationally recognized government, with half of them in Marib (26 families, mostly from Taiz and Hodeidah).

Taiz followed with 15 families, all displaced internally, while Hadramout received 7 families from neighboring Ibb and Shabwa, and Hodeidah recorded 4 families.

The report noted that displacement drivers were evenly split between security concerns (26 families) and economic hardships linked to the ongoing conflict (26 families).

Among newly displaced households, 44 percent expressed urgent need for shelter, 33 percent for cash assistance, 29 percent for food aid, and 10 percent for livelihood support. Many families reported consuming fewer than two meals per day, relying primarily on relatives and friends for free food.

Since the beginning of 2026, IOM has documented a total of 544 displaced families, amounting to 3,264 individuals.
