Students from the twenty-fourth cohort at the Higher Institute of the Judiciary in the temporary capital of Aden staged a protest outside the Supreme Judicial Council headquarters, demanding the disbursement of their financial entitlements stemming from the scholarship provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the judiciary. The protesting students asserted their objective is to normalize their financial status, aligning it with that of their colleagues serving as court judges and prosecution members who were included in the disbursement decision. They emphasized that they constitute an integral part of the judicial authority and possess identical legal eligibility to benefit from these allocations. In a statement issued during the demonstration, the students clarified that their functional procedures were finalized based on a judicial, not administrative, financial number. They cited this procedure as conclusive evidence of their full right to receive the allocations without any distinction. The students expressed profound dissatisfaction with the continued disregard for their demands, despite the clarity of their legal standing, warning that this neglect undermines the principles of justice and equality within the judicial institution. Furthermore, the students confirmed their intention to sustain peaceful protests and utilize all available legitimate legal means until their just demands are met. It is noted that the Supreme Judicial Council announced on February 5th the commencement of salary payments funded by Saudi Arabia for members of the judiciary across five governorates—Hadhramaut, Taiz, Hodeidah, Al-Mahra, and Lahj—for the month of January 2026, processed through Al-Qutaibi Islamic Bank under the supervision of the head of the Supreme Judicial Council. |
