A public transport bus driver in Marib Governorate was subjected to an armed assault and robbery by unidentified assailants on Saturday evening in the Al-Wadi district, an incident that has prompted widespread public condemnation. Local sources reported that the armed individuals hired the bus under the pretext of being transported to the vicinity of the Bin Maali station. The attackers then surprised the driver, assaulting him and attempting to slit his throat while the vehicle was stopped. The driver managed to escape by opening the bus door and jumping out, despite sustaining serious injuries to his neck area, before fleeing the scene to save his life. The sources further confirmed that the perpetrators seized the bus, which belongs to the driver, and fled toward an undisclosed location; their identities remain unknown at this time. Activists circulated a video clip on social media purportedly showing the injured and bleeding driver recounting the details of the attack to bystanders. Citizens are urgently demanding that security and military apparatuses in Marib Governorate move swiftly to track down and apprehend the perpetrators, recover the stolen vehicle, and ensure that such incidents, which threaten civilian security and safety, are not repeated. |
