Houthis Block Access to Global AI Platform “ChatGPT” in Yemen

Houthi rebels have imposed a ban on accessing the global artificial intelligence platform ChatGPT across internet networks in areas under their control.

Residents in several provinces confirmed they were unable to use the service except through Virtual Private Networks (VPNs), after being directly denied access to the platform in recent days.

Users expressed frustration over the restriction, criticizing the policy as a barrier to benefiting from advanced knowledge and technological applications provided by the international platform.

The move has sparked concern among Yemeni citizens who view access to modern digital tools as essential for education, professional growth, and global connectivity.
