Security sources have confirmed that three smuggling boats offloaded more than 600 irregular African migrants onto the shores of Shabwa province, southeast Yemen, in recent days.

According to the Security Media Center of Yemen’s internationally recognized government, police in Radoum district reported that 620 migrants arrived on the district’s coastline over the past two days in three separate waves of illegal migration from the Horn of Africa Authorities stated that all of the new arrivals are Ethiopian nationals, including 415 men and 205 women.

The first wave consisted of 190 migrants, transported by a smuggling vessel named Al-Usstura and landed at Kida beach The second wave brought 170 migrants aboard the boat Al-Jazeera, who disembarked at Al-Ain beach The third wave involved 260 migrants carried by the vessel Al-Shumoukh, arriving at Jalaa beach.

Police emphasized that they are “taking all legal measures to mitigate the burdens, risks, and security and social repercussions resulting from these waves of illegal migration into the country.”

Official figures indicate that the total number of irregular African migrants who have reached Shabwa’s shores since the beginning of this year has now risen to 1,430 individuals. More than 60,000 migrants arrived in Yemen last year alone.
