Armed Attacks in Taiz Leave Citizens Injured and Property Damaged

Taiz, Yemen – A series of armed assaults on civilians in the city of Taiz, which is under the control of security and military forces loyal to the Islah party, have caused significant public outrage and prompted calls for the swift apprehension of those involved and enhanced security measures.

Local sources reported that a group of armed individuals attacked citizen Abbas Al-Qabati in the Al-Radwan Al-Shamasi neighborhood, looting his possessions in full view of onlookers. Security agencies have been accused of failing to take serious and decisive action regarding this incident.

In a separate incident, sources indicated that an armed gang, reportedly associated with an individual previously arrested for attempted murder and firing a weapon inside a barbershop, returned at night to assault a young man named Badr in his commercial establishment in the Al-Masbah neighborhood. Badr sustained severe injuries, including a fractured jaw and head trauma, and was transported to the hospital for treatment. The assailants vandalized his shop and discharged firearms, causing substantial material damage.

Furthermore, an armed man identified as Mohammed Al-Ardan fired three shots at a khat vendor in Taiz, hitting him in the thigh and leg. The victim was taken to a local hospital for medical attention, according to local sources.

Residents have demanded the immediate pursuit and arrest of all individuals implicated in these armed attacks. They warned that the continuation of such incidents threatens public security and encourages the proliferation of violence and thuggery, emphasizing that the protection of citizens is the responsibility of the security and military forces.
