The Masaam Project's operations room announced that its engineering teams have cleared 4,622 mines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices since the beginning of June up to the 19th, as part of ongoing humanitarian efforts to decontaminate Yemeni territories and protect civilians. According to a statement from the project's media office, the cleared items included 4,000 unexploded ordnance, 361 anti-tank mines, 180 anti-personnel mines, and 81 improvised explosive devices. These operations have significantly reduced the immediate threats to the lives of residents in affected areas. The statement further indicated that during the same period, project teams decontaminated 1,027,454 square meters of land. This allows for the rehabilitation of new areas for safe use, supporting the return of residents to their communities and the resumption of agricultural and service activities. On a weekly basis, the project reported clearing approximately 1,779 mines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices during the third week of June. This total comprised 1,292 unexploded ordnance, 257 anti-tank mines, 151 anti-personnel mines, and 79 improvised explosive devices, along with the clearance of 391,802 square meters of land. In the Hajjah Governorate, specifically in the Midi district, project teams have made notable progress, with a cumulative total of 10,292 mines, unexploded ordnance, and improvised explosive devices cleared since operations began in the district. The total area decontaminated stands at 3,407,746 square meters. The project's operations room affirmed the continued execution of field tasks by engineering teams across various Yemeni governorates. These efforts are aimed at mitigating the risks posed by mines and war remnants, securing land, supporting recovery, and restoring normal life to affected regions. |
