A young man and a woman have died in separate incidents resulting from stray bullets fired during social gatherings in Yemen's Shabwa and Taiz governorates. In Shabwa, a 24-year-old man succumbed to a gunshot wound to the head following indiscriminate firing during a wedding ceremony. Security authorities reported that the victim was transported to Al-Otaq Hospital with the injury, where he later passed away. Initial investigations indicate the shot was fired randomly at the wedding. The suspect, aged 26, has surrendered to the police and is being held pending legal proceedings. In a separate incident in Taiz governorate, a 33-year-old woman was killed by a stray bullet in the Mashwala region of Al-Ma'afer district. According to a source from the victim's family, the woman had traveled from Taiz city to visit her relatives. During the welcome, her brother discharged firearms in celebration of her arrival. One of the bullets ricocheted off stones and fatally struck her. The victim's body was transferred to the morgue at Al-Thawra Hospital. These incidents underscore the recurring warnings regarding the dangers of celebratory gunfire during social events, which frequently leads to tragic accidents and civilian casualties. |
