An 82-year-old man sustained critical injuries on Sunday after being targeted by Houthi militia snipers positioned in the eastern outskirts of Taiz, southwestern Yemen. Local sources reported that Saeed Hazzaa Yousef was directly targeted by a Houthi sniper stationed at the "Central Security" camp as he was leaving his home in the Barid Al-Rawda neighborhood. Eyewitnesses stated that Mr. Yousef collapsed in the street, bleeding and unconscious, for a period before anyone could reach him. He was eventually found by a group of female students from Al-Zaid Al-Mushki school on their way to class. Residents were alerted, and he was immediately transported to Al-Thawra General Hospital. Medical sources confirmed that Mr. Yousef's health condition is "extremely critical," and he remains under intensive care due to his severe injuries. This incident is part of a continuing series of violations targeting civilians in Taiz. Hundreds have been killed or wounded in recent years by Houthi snipers who have besieged the city from strategic heights and buildings, turning residential areas into zones of constant danger, threatening the lives of pedestrians, children, and the elderly. |
