A tribal sheikh was fatally shot by an armed assailant from the same village in the Al-Arsh district of Al-Bayda Governorate, which is under Houthi militia control. Local sources reported that Sheikh Mohammed Nasser Al-Naini was killed by an armed individual belonging to the "Al-Othmani" family in the village of Al-Sawar, in the Hababah area of Al-Arsh district. The sources clarified that the incident occurred following a dispute between the parties, which escalated into a verbal altercation over water distribution rights from a well owned by the victim. This was followed by gunfire, resulting in his immediate death. Following the incident, activists and tribal elders issued urgent appeals to the sheikhs and tribes of Al-Arsh and the seven districts of Rada' to intervene swiftly, contain the situation, and prevent the escalation of violence between the "Al-Naini" and "Al-Othmani" families, in the interest of social peace and the preservation of life in the region. This incident occurs amidst an unprecedented wave of security breakdown in Al-Bayda Governorate and the Rada' areas. In recent years, there has been an increase in killings targeting sheikhs, dignitaries, and social figures, amid accusations that the de facto authorities (Houthis) are fueling and exacerbating tribal conflicts. |
