Security forces in the interim capital of Aden, specifically in the Khormaksar district, announced the apprehension of two suspects in separate incidents involving the possession of narcotics intended for trafficking, underscoring heightened efforts to combat organized crime. The Khormaksar police detailed that the initial operation occurred at the Al-Alam checkpoint, resulting in the arrest of an individual identified as (M.H.M.M.), aged 32. The suspect was apprehended while operating a modern vehicle, found in possession of approximately 265 grams of hashish, valued at roughly 150,000 Yemeni Riyals. Further inspection revealed drug paraphernalia for consumption, alongside a "Scorpion" type firearm, a traditional dagger ("jambiya"), and an offensive grenade, suggesting a dangerous link between narcotics promotion and potential violence. In a separate action within the Mansoura district market, security agencies detained a second suspect, identified as (A.M.Q.A.), aged 29. He was found carrying 14 grams of hashish, in addition to 172 tablets of the controlled substance "Pregabalin," with the combined estimated value reaching 286,000 Riyals. The police confirmed that both suspects have been detained, all seized items have been cataloged, and the individuals have been referred to the competent authorities to finalize the necessary legal proceedings. Security agencies attributed the motives behind these offenses to the pursuit of illicit gain and a decline in religious deterrence. Authorities issued a strong warning regarding the danger these phenomena pose to societal security and affirmed the continuation of campaigns to apprehend involved parties and pursue drug trafficking networks. |
