Houthi Fire Kills Young Man, Injures Child in Amran Governorate

A recent escalation of violence in Yemen's Amran Governorate resulted in the death of a young man and the severe injury of a child after they were shot by Houthi militia elements in the Sawad Al-Osaimat area of Wadi Mur district.

Local sources confirmed that the militia forces opened direct fire on residents, leading to the martyrdom of Ibrahim Fayed Mohammed Abushawsah and critically wounding the child, Asif Ahmed Yahya Qaz'an, who was rushed for emergency medical treatment.

Regional dignitaries asserted that the militia has maintained a sustained deployment of dozens of armored vehicles and hundreds of armed personnel along the border areas separating the "Al-Osaimat" and "Sufyan" tribes for years. They indicated that these maneuvers are designed to instigate tribal conflicts and sectarian strife, characterized by overt bias toward specific factions based on allegiance, thereby ensuring the continuation of internal fighting that serves the militia's objectives.

The Al-Osaimat regions have witnessed significant abuses, including restrictions preventing farmers from irrigating and cultivating their lands, confiscation of private property, and the imposition of exorbitant levies under the guise of "war effort" contributions. Furthermore, residents face coercion and threats aimed at forcing their sons to join the militia's front lines.

Observers suggest this Houthi aggression is part of a retaliatory strategy intended to break the resistance of the Al-Osaimat tribe. The group is reportedly using excessive military force to alter the demographic and social landscape of the area, aiming to subdue tribes that continue to resist its agenda.
