Security Forces Register 31 Criminal Cases, Detain 37 Suspects Amid Major Traffic Incidents

Security agencies announced on Saturday the registration of 31 criminal cases and the apprehension of 37 suspects across several liberated governorates, coinciding with six traffic accidents that resulted in seven injuries and material damages exceeding 17 million Yemeni Riyals, according to official reports from the Ministry of Interior. The report, issued by the Ministry of Interior’s General Directorate for Command and Control, detailed that the criminal offenses included 10 cases of theft, six cases of minor intentional assault, two cases each of slander/insult, breach of trust, and trespass, in addition to two cases involving wanted individuals, and seven other miscellaneous cases. Ma'rib Governorate led the list of governorates in terms of registered cases, accounting for 13 incidents and the detention of 14 suspects. Taiz followed with five cases and five arrests, while Aden recorded four cases and the apprehension of eight suspects. Furthermore, the report indicated that Hadramawt Coast registered two cases with two arrests; Shabwa had two cases and three arrests; Al-Dhale' recorded two cases and two arrests; and Lahij documented two cases with two arrests. Hajjah registered a single case with one suspect detained. In a parallel development, Traffic Police confirmed six traffic accidents over the past period in the liberated governorates, leading to seven injuries—one severe and six minor—and total material losses calculated at 17,290,000 Riyals. These incidents comprised two collisions, two pedestrian knockdowns, one vehicle rollover, and one vehicle fire. The traffic report specified that one accident occurred in each of Aden, Ma'rib, Shabwa, Abyan, Al-Dhale', and Lahij, with other governorates reporting no incidents during the same timeframe. The most significant financial losses were recorded in Shabwa due to a vehicle fire amounting to 15 million Riyals, followed by Ma'rib with 2 million Riyals in losses, and Aden with approximately 290,000 Riyals. The Ministry of Interior affirmed its commitment to continuing security campaigns to pursue criminal elements and enhance stability, noting that legal proceedings are underway for all apprehended suspects pending referral to the competent judicial authorities. |
