The "Ain for Human Rights" organization has expressed profound concern regarding the persistent stalling and generalized security approach adopted by the Houthi militia in Al-Bayda Governorate concerning the case of citizen Mohammed Rizq, an employee at the Radaa Transport Office, who was killed while performing his official duties approximately three and a half months ago. In a statement issued on Friday, the organization affirmed that the victim's body remaining in the freezer of Dhamar Hospital for this duration, without completion of legal procedures to allow his family to bury him, constitutes a flagrant violation of human dignity and an exacerbation of psychological harm to his relatives. The organization noted that this unjustified delay raises serious doubts regarding the legal trajectory of the case. The organization relayed that the family of the victim, Mohammed Rizq, holds senior Houthi security leaders in the governorate fully responsible, specifically naming the Director of Criminal Investigation, Mohammed Mahmoud Al-Khatib (Abu Sakhr), and the Governor's Police Director, Ahmed Abdullah Al-Sharafi (Abu Hamza), accountable for what they termed "tampering with the case" and failing to disclose investigation results to the public despite the passage of sufficient time. The statement clarified that "unofficial" announcements regarding the apprehension of suspects lack credibility and transparency, given the absence of any official security communiqué detailing the perpetrators' identities, the nature of the evidence, or the legal process followed. This reinforces the family's fears of attempts to dilute the case and ensure the perpetrators escape accountability. Ain emphasized that the right to life is a moral and legal obligation resting upon the de facto authorities, warning that any failure to achieve criminal justice in serious crimes entails direct legal responsibility for the supervising entities. The organization concluded its statement by demanding that the Houthi authorities in Al-Bayda issue a detailed official report clarifying the investigation findings and relinquish control over the case to allow swift justice to proceed, free from any extra-legal considerations, asserting that impunity threatens social peace and institutionalizes a culture of disregard for Yemeni lives. |
