The resistance forces in Taiz governorate successfully repelled a multi-pronged Houthi offensive on Tuesday, particularly in the Sabr Al-Mada'am and Al-Misrakh fronts, south of the provincial capital. The attacks coincided with ongoing Houthi military reinforcements in various areas of Taiz's rural districts. Field sources reported that resistance fighters thwarted a significant assault by Houthi militants on the Dhahih Kahlān front. The Houthi forces attempted to advance towards the peak of Mount Dhahih and the village of Kahlān, launching their attack from four directions and with substantial artillery and fire support. This offensive followed two days of Houthi military mobilization and troop movements, including the arrival of reinforcements and attempted infiltrations from Houthi-controlled villages like Arsh, Al-Naqil, and Al-Mu'aynah. The sources further indicated that resistance fighters anticipated and prepared for the assault, leading to intense clashes. These engagements ultimately resulted in the failure of the Houthi advance and forced the attackers to retreat, with reports of significant casualties and material losses on their side. In other fronts, such as Al-'Uqaymāt and Al-Najādah, clashes resumed after a period of fragile calm. These confrontations occurred concurrently with continued Houthi mobilizations in areas including Al-Khalaakhel, Khareesha, and Al-Akama, aimed at pressuring resistance positions and securing control over the Al-Najādah region. The escalation in military activity led to civilian casualties due to Houthi shelling and sniper fire. Information from the area confirmed the death of an 18-year-old woman and injuries to several children, in addition to the death of a civilian named Mohammed Mahyoub. The wives of Nader Abdul Samad Al-Shuraihi and Riyadh Al-Shuraihi were also reportedly targeted by snipers, with difficulties reported in transferring them to medical facilities. In an effort to halt the targeting of civilians, women from Al-Akama village attempted mediation to stop the sniper fire and facilitate the evacuation of the injured. However, these efforts were unsuccessful amidst the ongoing tension and concerns for the safety of residents, particularly given familial ties between the inhabitants of Al-Akama and Al-'Uqaymāt. Concurrently, Houthi military movements persisted in the Khareesha and Al-Akama areas, with reports of armored vehicles reaching the vicinity of Khareesha and ambiguity surrounding the destination of other reinforcements that arrived in Al-Akama. Residents also reported the presence of Houthi elements in Al-Najādah, while the resistance maintained surveillance of military movements and tracked infiltration attempts in mountainous terrain. On the Anbiān front, simultaneous engagements took place as Houthi forces attempted to exert pressure on resistance positions and secure routes towards Mashra'ah and Hudnan, in coordination with movements related to the Al-Sarrār front. Field sources confirmed that resistance fighters successfully defended their positions against these attempts. The sources suggest a state of continued alert in the Sabr front due to the influx of Houthi reinforcements and the diverse axes of engagement, indicating a persistent likelihood of renewed confrontations in the coming hours. |
