Taiz, Yemen – Renewed clashes intensified across various fronts in Taiz on Tuesday, with significant engagements reported in the southern sectors of Al-Shaqab, Al-Misrakh, and Al-Aqroodh, as well as in the vicinity of Jabal Han and Al-Dabab to the west, and the Asifrah area to the north of the city. These developments were confirmed by a field statement issued by the Taiz axis command. The statement detailed that government forces, supported by popular resistance fighters, repelled Houthi militia attacks in the Al-Shaqab front in southern Taiz. The confrontations resulted in casualties among the militia ranks, the downing of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), and the destruction of a military vehicle. In the Al-Misrakh district, government forces continued their operations to secure previously captured positions. Concurrently, airstrikes from warplanes and drones provided support for offensives targeting Houthi militia sites within the district. Engagements were also reported in the Asifrah front, north of the city, where government troops successfully thwarted an infiltration attempt by Houthi forces, leading to reported casualties among the militia. Sporadic clashes persisted across other surrounding fronts of Taiz, escalating in intensity in certain areas. These confrontations included mortar shelling directed at Houthi militia gatherings near the Central Security Camp to the east, the Al-Dabab area to the west, and the Ghorab area to the northwest of the city. Furthermore, government artillery successfully targeted and directly hit a Houthi militia tank on the northeastern front, according to official reports. |
