A Yemeni human rights network has documented 1,774 instances of booby-trapping and bombing of civilian homes and facilities across 17 governorates in Yemen. The report, covering the period from September 2014 to August 2026, accuses the Houthi militia of perpetrating these violations.

The Yemeni Network for Rights and Freedoms, in a report titled "Home Bombings: A Persistent Terrorist Instinct of the Houthi Militia," detailed that the documented incidents included the destruction of 1,129 residential homes, 136 mosques and Quranic centers, 179 bridges and public roads, and 146 farms and water wells.

The report further indicated that the targeting extended to 41 schools and educational facilities, 39 government buildings, 19 health facilities, as well as commercial establishments, party headquarters, and archaeological sites.

The network warned of the humanitarian repercussions of these practices, noting that they have led to the displacement of families, caused damage to civilian property, and contributed to the disruption of essential services, thereby exacerbating the suffering of the population.

The organization emphasized that the booby-trapping and bombing of civilian homes and facilities constitute a violation of the rules of international humanitarian law pertaining to the protection of civilians and their property. It called upon the international community to take action to protect the population, support investigations into the documented violations, and ensure accountability and justice for the victims.
