Yemeni Emergency Forces announced on Sunday the seizure of a significant cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives during a security operation targeting smuggling routes between the eastern Marib and central Hadramawt governorates. In a statement accompanied by visual evidence of the confiscated items, the Emergency Forces reported that their units intercepted a "Jeep Shas" vehicle transporting the shipment. The operation followed an engagement with smugglers, resulting in the disabling of the smugglers' vehicle and injuries to two security personnel. The vehicle and its contents have been secured. The seized items included ammunition belts for medium and heavy machine guns, sealed metal crates containing various types of ammunition, and automatic weapons, including Kalashnikov rifles and machine guns. The shipment also comprised grenades and projectiles intended for drones, along with sealed bags containing explosive materials and belts, according to the visual recording. Units of the "Emergency Forces – First Division" are deployed in areas of Marib, the Hadramawt plateau, and along the international road connecting them, with their operations command based in the Al-Ruwaik area. The forces did not disclose the final destination of the shipment or the intended recipients of the weapons and ammunition, nor did they provide details regarding the identity of the smugglers or the number of individuals apprehended. |
