Somali Militants Found Among Houthi Casualties in West Coast Fighting

The National Resistance's military media wing announced the discovery of bodies belonging to Somali Al-Shabaab elements among Houthi militia casualties during ongoing battles on the West Coast. These individuals were reportedly fighting on behalf of the Iran-backed militia.

Military media stated that the verification process of the deceased's identities, along with documents and belongings found in their possession, revealed that a number of them were affiliated with the Somali Al-Shabaab movement, which is classified as a terrorist group.

The military media released video footage, which they claim documents the discovery of several bodies. They asserted that the presence of Al-Shabaab elements within the Houthi ranks exposes aspects of coordination and mutual support between the militia and extremist groups active in the Horn of Africa region.

These findings suggest an extension of armed and extremist group networks across the coastlines and maritime routes in the region, raising concerns about escalating recruitment and transit activities between Yemen and the Horn of Africa.

Previously, informed intelligence sources revealed to "Khobar" news agency several months ago that dozens of individuals affiliated with the Somali Al-Shabaab movement had arrived in Yemeni territories via coastal routes in recent times, before moving to the Shabwah and Marib governorates.

At that time, sources indicated that the movements of these elements represented a highly dangerous security development, amid the escalating activity of extremist groups and the overlapping networks and transit paths within Yemen and the Horn of Africa region.
