Yemen Demining Project Destroys 1,861 Mines and Munitions in Midi

The "Masam" project for demining in Yemen announced the destruction of 1,861 mines and war remnants in the Midi district of Hajjah governorate, northwestern Yemen. This marks the second such operation conducted by the project in the district within five days.

According to a statement released by the project, the destruction operation, carried out by "Masam 39" team, included 316 hand grenades (40mm), 1,239 rounds (20mm), 169 artillery shells (57mm), 69 anti-tank mines, 18 Katyusha rockets, 45 rounds (23mm), and 5 artillery shells (122mm).

The project further clarified that this operation brings the total number of war materials destroyed in the Midi district to 6,002 items. Since commencing its operations in Midi in September 2025 until Sunday, the Masam teams working in the district have successfully cleared and removed 11,366 mines, explosive devices, and unexploded ordnance.

Cumulatively, across all its operational areas in Yemen since July 2018, the project has removed and destroyed a total of 583,513 items. This figure comprises 159,982 anti-personnel and anti-tank mines, 414,877 pieces of unexploded ordnance, and 8,654 explosive devices.
