A young girl has tragically drowned in an uncovered well in the Al-Hait area of Al-Hasha district, Al Dhale'e Governorate, prompting widespread sorrow among local residents. Local sources reported that the child, Iman Abdo Mohammed Al-Najjar, died after falling into one of the exposed pools in the area. This incident has reignited concerns regarding the dangers posed by unsecured pools, dams, and water reservoirs, particularly during the rainy season. Tragic incidents of child drownings are recurrent in various regions of Yemen due to the proliferation of unprotected water structures. These facilities, lacking essential safety measures, frequently become sources of peril for the populace, with children being especially vulnerable. These repeated tragedies underscore the urgent need for preventative measures. Such actions should include securing uncovered pools, reservoirs, and dams with protective fencing and barriers. Furthermore, abandoned and disused structures must be sealed, and basic rescue equipment should be made available to mitigate the risk of drowning incidents. |
