Yemeni National Fatally Stabbed During Friday Prayer in Somalia

A Yemeni national, identified as Fikri Hassan Al-Masbahi, was fatally stabbed inside a mosque in Somalia while performing Friday prayers, according to his brother, Mohammed Hassan Al-Masbahi.

Mohammed Al-Masbahi stated that his family received the news of his brother's death with profound grief and sorrow, describing the incident as a heinous and shocking crime that constitutes an assault on the sanctity of human life and the sanctity of a house of worship.

He explained that his brother had previously worked at Al-Mansoura power station in the capital, Aden, before traveling to Somalia to work for an electricity company, seeking a livelihood to support his family. He was known for his good character and reputation among those who knew him.

According to the family's account, a Somali national allegedly stabbed Fikri Hassan Al-Masbahi multiple times inside the mosque, leading to his death.

The Al-Masbahi family has expressed their strong condemnation of the incident, urging Somali authorities to conduct a swift and transparent investigation to uncover the circumstances and motives behind the crime. They also called for the perpetrator to be brought to justice and to ensure accountability.

The family further appealed to the relevant Yemeni authorities, the Yemeni Embassy, and the company where the deceased was employed to follow up on the case and coordinate with Somali officials to achieve justice and protect the rights of the victim and his family.

They also requested the expedited completion of necessary procedures to repatriate the body of the deceased to Yemen for burial among his family and loved ones.

The family emphasized that they seek justice and the rule of law, not vengeance, considering the incident an affront to the dignity of Yemeni citizens and their right to life and security while abroad.
