Sana'a's Judges Syndicate has vehemently condemned an assassination attempt and armed assault targeting Judge Abdullah Mansour Ahmed Taneen. The incident occurred as the judge was returning from Al-Madhan district in Amran province to Sana'a, in the Al-Hajar area of Shiharah district, which is under the control of the Houthi terrorist militia. The syndicate considers this act a grave violation of the sanctity of the judiciary and the security of society.

In an official statement issued on Monday, June 8, 2026, the syndicate asserted that the heinous assassination attempt was not an isolated incident but, according to initial investigations, was part of a systematic retaliatory action. This action was allegedly taken because of the judge's performance of his judicial duties and previous strict legal measures he had implemented against individuals referred for investigation in corruption and bribery cases during his prior tenure at the Shiharah court.

The statement further clarified that the abhorrent assault resulted in the martyrdom of Haj Yahya Ahmed Al-Sareemi, a prominent social figure known for his mediation efforts. Al-Sareemi had actively participated with the judge in resolving a protracted tribal dispute that had persisted for approximately 12 years in Al-Madhan district.

The Judges Syndicate warned of the catastrophic implications of this incident should it be proven that security elements or leaders affiliated with the Houthi militia were involved in its commission or complicity. It emphasized that targeting a judge due to his rulings and decisions constitutes a direct assault on the prestige of the judiciary and a dangerous threatening message aimed at undermining the independence of the judicial authority and intimidating its custodians, deterring them from fulfilling their noble mission.

The statement demanded that the security authorities swiftly apprehend all perpetrators, both planners and executors, and refer them to the specialized criminal prosecution. It also called for the provision of necessary and complete security protection for members of the judiciary, stressing that complacency or impunity in such crimes undermines the foundations of stability and opens the door wide to the rule of the jungle and chaos.

The syndicate's statement came hours after Judge Abdullah Taneen announced his resignation to the Houthi-affiliated Supreme Judicial Council, citing "health reasons." This step coincided with the disregard for his prior criminal complaint regarding the incident and the encroachment of Houthi security elements overseeing Shiharah district, whose involvement in orchestrating the armed ambush has been established.
